Founded in 1992, our club has grown from a small college team in Templemore to a vibrant, inclusive community, now representing players from over 20 nationalities. Athletes of all skill levels and backgrounds come together to thrive and achieve their potential.
The BEGINNING
GardIANS Volleyball Club
Gardians Volleyball Club started in Templemore in 1992 as a college team. By 2002, its founding members decided to evolve the club, opening it to the public and affiliating with the Volleyball Association of Ireland (VAI) to compete in the National Leagues. Initially formed for members of An Garda Síochána to train and play volleyball, the club now welcomes players from all walks of life, embracing diversity while upholding core values of dedication, teamwork, and community.
The club began with a single men’s team and expanded in 2007 by introducing the first women’s team, which quickly gained recognition as one of the fastest-rising teams in the league. Over the years, Gardians VC has celebrated many successes, both on and off the court, with the support of our players and the social events organized by our members throughout the season.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
FROM BEGINNER TO EXPERIENCE PLAYERS
Today, Gardians VC fields several teams that compete in the National Leagues. We cater to players of all levels—from competitive athletes in our Premier teams to those looking for a more recreational experience in the lower divisions. With players from over 20 nationalities, we are proud of the global friendships we’ve fostered in the volleyball community. We regularly host visiting teams for friendly matches and social events, promoting camaraderie on an international scale.

As a non-profit organization, Gardians Volleyball Club is dedicated to:
